Introducing Selena & Steve, read on to find out more about their lovely engagement shoot and fun summer wedding...
Where we first met...
I first met Selena & Steve at the Stanton Manor Wedding Show in 2018. Steve got back in contact with me shortly afterwards, we all then met for a coffee, I was dead chuffed as they then booked me there and then. Their wedding date was set for the 26th August 2019 in the quaint church of St Peter, Langley Burrell and afterwards at Marden House in Calne.
Just after they booked me for their wedding day, Selena called me to also arrange a Bridal Boudoir shoot as a present for Steve on their wedding day. The shoot was absolutely lovely, such an elegant lady, her images were gorgeous and all printed in a photo book for her H2B! How lovely is that?
We next all met at Lydiard Park in Swindon for their engagement shoot. I had to remember not to let the secret out about Selena's Bridal Boudoir present! Their engagement shoot was such fun and so natural, we laughed a lot and had the most amazing light. We walked and chatted, I suggested things they might like to do like a piggy back and sitting in the window of the house. A fab couple of hours spent and a host of fantastic images caught....perfect.
Their Big Day
On the 26th August I met with Selena at the Lansdowne Hotel in Calne for her bridal preparations. She had her hair and makeup styled in a 1940's style which really suited her. Such a lovely feel to the room with her children present. She stepped in to her dress, an off the shoulder style, fitted into the waist and simply stunning. As Selena was preparing to travel to the church I got ahead of her and went to the church where I met my lovely second Photographer Clare from Barefoot Photography. Clare was busy capturing the groom's arrival and all their guests gathering for the ceremony.
Selena arrived in a gorgeous white vintage Daimler with her bridesmaids. The sun shone on the church creating the most gorgeous light and atmosphere for their big day. Clare and I went into the Church and awaited Selena's arrival through the door. The ceremony went off without a hitch (well except the obvious one!) and they were married. Some fantastically funny moments, faces pulled and laughter, my camera was loving it. After the ceremony we captured a few 'just married' shots at the church gate and in the wedding car and moved onto the chosen reception venue, Marden House in Calne.
Let's Celebrate...
Now this venue is a hidden gem! From the front you wouldn't think anything much of it to be honest. Inside however, it has a lovely space for the most intimate wedding together with a beautiful large sunken garden with a gazebo and patio area just perfect for your guests to relax. The garden provided a beautiful backdrop for their group shots after which Selena, Steve and I went off next door to the old Calne canal, another hidden gem right on the doorstep, literally! We found a stunning gate, benches in sun-kissed areas and a faux barge set on the old part of the canal that's been filled in. I was spoilt for choice to capture their romantic images, I was in my element. Steve and Selena had a few moments alone, well with Clare and I watching from afar, but time to themselves before they rejoined their guests. Marvellous!
We all then went back to their ceremony, caught some more creatively natural shots of their speeches and guests mingling, bridal portraits and those impromptu selfies guests love taking at a wedding, looks fab third caught! Their evening reception was just as much fun with a game of Mr & Mrs and a surprise song sung by Steve that he had recorded a few months ago for Selena. There was not a dry eye in the house, it was wonderful and very emotional.
At the end of the night we bid our farewell and disappeared home for a well earned red wine (or three!!). What a fantastic day, another beautiful wedding. Oh I love my work!
I hope you enjoyed this post, I know I loved capturing and writing about it, I was right back there in the moment.
