Real Wedding: Lucy & Joe at The Holford Arms

We love a wedding where the couple try and make it as personal as possible to them. This wedding of Lucy and Joe shows how this can be done by using Whitewed Approved Ana Kelly of Kelly Celebrant. Ana says...

"Lucy and Joe first contacted me after a recommendation from a relative to be their Celebrant at their wedding, which followed them being sweethearts since school -- 18 years' together! Although originally from Wiltshire, and intending to get married in Tetbury, they live outside of London. Thus our correspondences were very much via Skype and the telephone, but this was no problem as it became quickly obvious to me what kind of service they wanted and the 'vibe' they wished for. They loved the service I wrote from them right from the get-go, and only really added in some lovely readings from Philip Pullman and a bit of wonderful music -- including a track from Jurassic Park! Joe is a musician and Lucy sings, so many of their guests were musicians.

The venue -- the Holford Arms - is very much a boho-festival type location with glamping tee-pees, cabins, pub accommodation and a lovely courtyard area. The whole of the pub and the extensive grounds can be booked and closed to the general public for the entire weekend to host a wedding.

A marquee was set up on the lawn which doubled as a 'just-in-case-it-rains' alternative location. Thankfully, the sun shone and no cover was needed so the marquee hosted the after-reception. Joe's mum provided basketfuls of dried rose petals. I helped organise a confetti tunnel walk from the courtyard to the marquee.

Seriously, there were no problems with this service, I met the couple two days' prior to the service to go over the logistics and there were a few issues that this helped to anticipate and resolve, with entry/exits/microphone placement etc..., so a meeting (over a welcome cuppa) was very helpful. On the day, although I was not asked to be a 'Mistress of Ceremonies' I did support the Best Man quietly with the initial congregation instructions / timing and the confetti organisation.

This really was fun, happy day all round. I was so touched that both the bride and groom took time out of their honeymoon to contact me to thank me for the service, for keeping them focused and for my calm approach. What a lovely day and what a fabulous couple! Photographs kindly supplied by Whitewed Approved Matt Fox Photography
