Real Bride, Imogen's Summer wedding at Grittleton House

Imogen first contacted me through my website at the end of December 2018. She said she loved the styles I had created and featured on my portfolio, and she asked if I I was available for her wedding on the 8th June 2019, and I was!  

I first met Imogen and her Mum when they came for Imogen's hair and makeup trial on the 28th January 2019 at my studio in Chippenham. Like most of my brides she did not live locally but had travelled from St Albans.  She had fallen in love with Grittleton House for her wedding venue.  At her trial we chatted about her wedding theme, colours, flowers, dress, hair accessories, cakes, honeymoon, everything to do with her wedding. 

Imogen had already sent me pictures of the sort of hair style she liked. We talked about her skin care regime what products she used etc.  Imogen looked after her skin but we discussed further what else she could do to improve it for her wedding day. I recommended that she had a microdermabrasion treatment a couple of weeks before her wedding which leaves the skin feeling smooth with a healthy glow perfect for a makeup application.

At her trial we discussed what sort of makeup she wore on a daily basis and what she did to glam it up for a night out. This gave me a feel for the sort of look she would like and helped me make suggestions along the way. 

She wanted to optimise the corner of her eyes so we used champagne and brown eyeshadow keeping the darker brown to the very outer corner of her eyes. We then enhanced the eyes again with some false strip lashes. For her flawless foundation she wanted a matt look as she had combination skin.  We used a Mii mineral powder foundation which mixes with the natural oils in the skin and is also kind to the skin without becoming congested, shiny and slipping, and therefore lasts all day and continues to look flawless. The lipstick we used was a nude called 'Very Victoria' by Charlotte Tilbury.  For her hair we created a double braided half up half down style.

The day was set to be very busy, and so we arrived at The Stables at Grittleton House at 6am to get started! Imogen had 6 bridesmaids and her Mum. Everyone needed hair styling, most were booked for makeup too.  

The wedding ceremony was at 12.30pm and Imogen wanted everyone to be finished by 12 noon. So Caroline (my assistant) and I needed extra help with hair styling in the form of Georgia Powell another brilliant Whitewed approved Hair and makeup artist!  At 9am we moved from the Stables to the Bridal Prep lounge in Grittleton House, it is such a beautiful room to get ready in. 

It was a really busy morning with lots of people buzzing around, the florist arriving, then the photographer who was Johnathan Lockwood of Ahuvi Photography also Whitewed approved, but it was also very chilled. Caroline and I always work to a schedule, so everyone knows where they are supposed to be. Our job is not over when we finish hair and makeup, oh no I have to put the veil in last, and it's totally normal to be cutting labels off dresses and veils, and help with dresses - whatever the bride needs.  

In the end we can breathe and leave the wedding party knowing that we have done the best job, and the bride and her wedding party look beautiful. Imogen was so pleased that she ordered all her bridal makeup products after the wedding and thanked us for everything we had done on the day.
