Love is in the Air for Erika & Kevin at Wrag Barn

The start of 2020 was full of excitement as so many couples planned towards one the most important days of their life in a year with a symmetrical ring to it's pronunciation.

Who knew that in March we would be told to stay at home, and that until further notice, all weddings were cancelled.

For some couples, this meant postponing their wedding until 2021; a hassle but possible, for others it was more complicated. The legal contract involved in marriage means that people plan their residency visa applications so that they comply with the rules, others have religious reasons and others had emotionally decided that they wanted to be married and found it unsettling when access to this change of status was denied them.

As government announcements were made, a rollercoaster of emotions continued as guidelines took ages to appear and were difficult to interpret.

Kevin and Erika are both members of Wrag Barn Golf Club and were very keen to tie the knot at the earliest opportunity. When the rules changed the Wrag Barn team worked closely with Swindon Registry Office to make sure that the venue was Covid-19 compliant and the possibilities for the ceremony were agreed. Huge thanks to the Registrars in Swindon who were so helpful and supportive as we worked to make this day happen.

The guidance allowed a total number of 30 people for the ceremony, but no reception afterwards.

Erika provided a seating plan for her guests arranged in family bubbles. Steph Hobbs from Venues Covered dressed the room and the day dawned with the sun in the sky and everything was perfect.

One of the unique features of Wrag Barn is our outside space which creates a perfect backdrop for wedding photographs. Erika and Kevin were able to make the most of the flower meadow where Laura Miller took some stunning photographs, and their love of golf wasn't forgotten as someone found some clubs and signs as props!

The happy couple departed with a takeaway wedding breakfast to celebrate their wedding day in the garden at home on a beautiful summer's day.
