The ultimate resource for creating your perfect wedding...
I can truly say that Elsa was a beautiful bride, both inside and out. She was so lovely to work with, and whilst she had lots of great ideas, she was happy to take my advice too.
I first met Elsa at a Whitewed Directory Wedding Show at Guyers House, and then again on the 7th June 2019 when she came to my studio in Chippenham for her hair and makeup trial.
Her wedding day was on the 10th August 2019. She had travelled from Poole where she lived with her fiancé, little two year old son and dog! Elsa was one of our amazing NHS workers, working in Bournemouth Hospital as a Pediatric Physio. As always we started with a consultation so that I could find out her colour scheme, what her dress was like, what her bridesmaids were wearing etc. We also talked about skin care, how much makeup she wore on a daily basis and how that changed when she went out for an evening, She came with several pictures of different hairstyles, which was great as we took parts of each of the hairstyles and came up with a textured up do.
Elsa had lovely thick hair which was really nice to work with. She was also having a veil so we were able to try that too. It is always good to come to a trial with all your hair accessories, and if you're having one, your veil too.
It was a busy wedding day morning as Elsa had 9 Bridesmaids. They all required hair styling, and two of the bridesmaids and Elsa’s Mum wanted makeup as well. Unfortunately, Caroline my amazing assistant, was on holiday but I had another fantastic hairstylist, Meg, to help me out. Meg & I arrived at Elsa’s Mum and Dad's house in Corsham at 6am and we took over the front room!
There were a lot of people in the house plus 3 dogs, so there was a lot going on, however, I am always about bringing calm and we started hair styling as soon as we were set up. Elsa had grown up in Corsham and she was getting married at Lacock Church as all her family had held their christenings and weddings at this Church and she was keen to carry on the tradition. This meant that she and her wedding party needed to be ready by 11am. In order to have everyone ready on time I drew up a schedule for Meg & I to work to. This allows us to remain calm in what can be a hive of activity in an enclosed space. Whew what a morning! But so enjoyable!
Elsa left on time. The weather was a bit dodgy, as there were a few showers and it was quite windy, so the bridesmaids had strict instructions to keep her veil under control! We had secured it very well and as you will see from the pictures that it stayed in place.
Elsa was travelling to Lacock Church in a vintage car, and her bridesmaids and Mum were travelling in style in a vintage bus. From the church they went to their wedding reception at Guyers House in Corsham.
This was a true Whitewed Approved Suppliers collaboration as their photographer was Matt Fox Photography, her cake was made by the lovely Sarah Forward of Cakes By Mrs F, and her wedding dress came from Maria Christina Bridal Boutique in Chippenham.
I was absolutely delighted when Elsa kindly left me a lovely review on Facebook the next day saying:
“I cannot thank Rachel and Meg enough for their outstanding job on not only my hair and make up but that of my 9 bridesmaids. A very early start but completely worth it. Thank you!”
