Whitewed Advise: You never get a second chance to make a first impression

Natalie Lovett of The Whitewed Directory advises on how you never get a second chance to make a first impression

Here at Whitewed, I work with engaged couples, wedding venues and suppliers alike, and 13 years in the industry and many thousands of contacts means I have a true and realistic view into how both sides of the industry react, perform, cope, and what their processes, challenges and wins are.

My experience as a Wedding Planner has shown me how easily a poorly laid-out website or non-domain matching email address can put a client off - and so often they would be the perfect match if it wasn't for this  When we think of first impressions we can often think of our personal appearance when meeting face to face, however it's so important to consider your digital presence because couples will often 'meet' you online long before they meet you.

You might know your website, social media, marketing needs some attention but you don't deem it to be a priority, but it could be the difference between you receiving enquiries and bookings and your potential clients and couples going elsewhere.

You do not get a second chance to make a first impression so read on for my top tips:

  • Does your website load quickly?
  • Does it give a clear impression as to what you offer, are your products and services up to date?
  • Do you provide a price guide?
  • Can they work out your coverage and where you’re based easily?
  • Do you make it easy for them to contact you – full contact details and form?
  • Do you have a Google My Business account?
  • Are the platforms that you advertise on, including your Whitewed Directory page, up to date?
  • Is it easy to travel between your social media and website so that couples can go on their journey with ease?
  • Are your social media platforms up to date and enticing?
  • Do you have a personalised voicemail message?
  • Do you have an email autoresponder?
  • Do you have a domain-matching email address?
  • Do you have an email signature?
  • Do you respond to enquiries within 1-2 working days?
  • Do you have a brochure of your products / services?
  • Do you respond quickly, professionally and in a caring and informative manner?
  • Do you use electronic letterhead for all quotes / invoices etc.?

All of these elements are essential in swaying a prospective new client to book your business over your competitor.

That's it from me, with engagement season just around the corner now is the time to make sure you're ready for those couples.

Kindest,

Natalie Lovett, Director of The Whitewed Directory
